Books: It’s Not Summer without You by Jenny Han
By now, I am sure most of you would have realized that I enjoyed reading YA books even though I am already half their age. Well, I enjoy the simple fact that I could enjoy a good book, in regardless of the themes!!
This is the sequel of ‘That Summer I Turned Pretty’. To be honest, I loved this book a lot more than the first book. I always thought sequels would not be as great as the first but I was wrong. Well, this is definitely the perfect book for teenagers who are in the process of grieving for the loss of their love ones, in search for the meaning of friendships, trying to understand the relationship between mother and daughter and of course, what does crushes and love means.
I like Belly, the main character of the book but at times I find her really childish. But what can I expect from a 16-year-old girl? Well, come to think of it, Belly isn’t ashamed (sometimes) about her outburst because this girl just need to get it off her chest especially it comes to dealing with Conrad. I enjoyed the friendship she had with the two boys, Conrad and Jeremiah, who were her soul mates ever since she could remember because their mothers were best friends for since – FOREVER!!! Even after the death of the boys’ mother, Susannah, nothing could change their love for one another. The love triangle between Belly and the three boys still got me curious (on one hand, I really wish Conrad would admit his love for Belly and on the other hand, I wanted Belly to be with the ever-so-sweet Jeremiah).
The emotions described in the book were surprisingly real. The longing and yearning for things to change and at the same time to remain unchanged was how I felt about the book. In some ways, it reflects my feelings. There were times in my life that I wished there were changes and at the same time wanting things to remain the same. And knowing there will be changes and wishing it would not.

Sounds interesting. I’ll have a look
